Drilling the hole for the propeller shaft. Having the strut mounted in place to be used as a guide for the drilling bit (fabricated by Mr. Haddock) allowed us to ensure that the hole was drilled straight and true for later alignment of the shaft with the engine. A depiction from one of the detailed bay drawings from our plan set shows how it was done at Higgins originally (right). |
